Millions of Christians worldwide trace their theological roots to John Wesley. Methodists, holiness Christians, neo-Pentecostals, charismatics, and others attribute to Wesley their emphasis on free will, personal accountability, and the call to holy living. However, Christian leaders of Wesley’s day opposed him. This book explores how John Wesley responded to his critics. In answering them, he articulated ideas that have become essential to modern Western Christianity.
