by P.T. Forsyth
P.T. Forsyth (1848-1921) was a Congregationalist theologian who pastored and preached for twenty-five years before becoming principal of Hackney College in London where he taught Systematic Theology and Preaching. Seeing the errors of theological liberalism he converted to classical Christianity. His views on the atonement, Christology, and prayer continue to be discussed today.
This article is taken from the chapter entitled “The Insistency of Prayer” in Forsyth’s book, “The Soul of Prayer” (London: Independent Press, 1954). It is abridged and slightly edited.
